Road Restrictions
Each construction season we are diligently working to maintain and improve our county road system. To make your travel more convenient in Warren County we have provided the following list of upcoming and current county road restrictions. Make note of whether to expect delays because of closures and/or currently under construction areas.
Union Township - Stubbs Mill Road (BR 35-2.90)
Road Closure - Watch for Detour
Stubbs Mill Road will be closed in Union Township at Bridge 35‐2.90 for a culvert replacement project starting Monday, May 7, 2012. The culvert replacement project will require the closure of Stubbs Mill Road between Wood Road and Shawhan Road (just south of Acomb Nursery). The closure will last for eight (8) weeks, ending on June 29, 2012, weather permitting.
The existing Stubbs Mill Road Bridge (#35‐2.90) will be replaced by force account with a precast concrete box culvert. The project is estimated to cost $85,000 and will be funded by the Warren County Engineer.
The detour for the closure will utilize SR 123 to Mason‐Morrow‐Millgrove Road.
Deerfield Township - Butler-Warren Road (CR 2)
Road Closure - Watch for Detour
PHASE 1 -- Starting February 27, 2012, Butler Warren Road will be closed and rebuilt from 450 feet north of Tylersville Road to just south of Liberty Way / Mason Road. During this closure, businesses at the corner of Tylersville and Butler Warren will maintain access from Tylersville Road; however, residential access on Butler Warren within the closure area will be maintained from the north (Liberty Way / Mason Road) end only. Access from Tyler Court and Rosemont Lane to Butler-Warren Road will be restricted. The detour for the affected subdivisions is Whispering Springs Drive off of Mason Road and Timber Court off of Snider Road. Phase 1 completion is tentatively scheduled for early summer 2012 at which time the road will reopen.
Detour for PHASE 1: Northbound Butler Warren Road traffic will detour west on Tylersville Road, north on Cox Road, and east on Liberty Way. Southbound traffic will reverse this route.
The full project involves widening 2.2 miles of Butler Warren from two to five lanes between Tylersville Road and Bethany Road, thereby creating two northbound and southbound lanes plus a center turn lane. Plans also call for adding curb and gutter and building a shared use path along the west side of the road from Tylersville to Sweet Briar Drive. A sidewalk will also be added on the east side from Mason Road to Hampton Cove Court.
The majority of the work is scheduled for completion by late 2012, weather permitting; however, final paving, construction of the multi-use path, and general cleanup are slated for spring 2013. Any work-related road closures are expected to occur this year only.
Deerfield Township - Mason-Montgomery Road (CR 21)
Road Construction - Expect Possible Delays
Expect construction and delays along the east lane of Mason‐Montgomery Road between Fields‐Ertel Road and Parkway Drive. Any closures and/or signal outage work will be limited to nighttime hours between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. The project, which began this summer, will continue to be underway through until the summer of 2012, weather permitting, with a stop in construction during the winter season.
This project will involve the construction of an additional northbound through lane that begins at Fields‐Ertel Road and continues 3,000 feet north to Parkway Drive. The existing right turn lane on Mason Road between the northbound exit ramp and Fields‐Ertel Road in Hamilton County will be converted into a through and right turn lane. When completed, there will be three northbound lanes to clear the traffic exiting northbound I‐71.
Deerfield Township - Bethany Road (CR 59)
Road Construction - Expect Possible Delays
Melampy Creek Lane closed April 26, 2012, for eight (8) weeks, weather permitting. The closure is to allow for grade reconstruction. Subdivision residents affected by this closure will utilize Ivy Grove Lane.
Starting Thursday, May 10, 2012, a new traffic pattern will be taking effect. Signs are posted, as well as road blocks, to direct traffic on the new pavement from the bridge located just east of Pinnacle Lane to the City of Mason Corporation Limits. This traffic pattern is part of the next phase of construction, the adjustment to the new roadway will continue to progress throughout the rest of the project. Traffic on Bethany Road will be maintained unless posted.
The Bethany Road Widening Project involves the widening of Bethany Road between Butler‐Warren Road and Mason City Corp limits.
